Year in Review: Our 21 Favorite Images of 2021
After months of wedding-less weekends in 2020, we were sure excited that 2021 was back with a vengance. Our studio captured 44 weddings this year - a record! And with that kind of volume, it made choosing this year’s top favorites really difficult. But here they are, our picks of 2021. Enjoy!
21. Spooky Season
Caitlin and John had one of the most sought-after original dates: 10-10-2020. By now we all know that date didn’t happen, so they opted for 10-10-2021 instead. Smack dab in the middle of the fall season, we love this vibe that’s a bit “spooky” with sun peeking through the gardens at Awbury Arboretum. Photo by Ashley
20. Sunset over Merchant’s Exchange
This spot is a fave for our wedding couples, but its rare we get there for an engagement session. Since Kelsey and Lindsay chose this spot, we were able to perfectly time it with the sun at a perfect spot in the sky. Photo by Ashley.
19. Aldie Mansion’s Famous Tree
A major attraction of this venue is the huge light-wrapped tree on the property. It’s obviously a great backdrop for a romantic portrait, but we wanted to add even more sparkle to the image by reflecting this glorious tree under Kristen and Shannon. Photo by Ben.
18. Natural Moments in Natural Light
Morris Arboretum is filled with amazing backdrops, but there is something about this area with the natural light peeking through the trees, and a lovely moment between Christine and Zach that we just love. Photo by Ben.
17. Horah Moments
Horah dances typically produce great moments and this one from Michael and Megan’s wedding was no exception. Photo by Ashley
16. The best skyline view in the city.
One of the top floors of the Lowe’s hotel in center city Philadelphia has an incredible view of the city skyline. It’s always stunning views make for great portraits, but we particularly love this silhouette of Adam and Eve. Photo by Ben.
15. Sweet Serenade
As Christine’s dad sings a song and their wedding ceremony, she embraces her soon-to-be husband in a moment they will remember forever. Photo by Ashley
14. Candlelit Cairnwood Estate
We are always a sucker for a good night portrait, and sometimes it’s a simple as a some candles and string lights, but the added reflective element here gives this image a little something more. We think Meghan and Sean will love this one. Photo by Ben.
13. A Windy Wedding Day
It’s the in-between moments that make for great photos. A gust of wind sweeps over the couple as we were walking between locations, and Bill shields Miranda in order to save her veil from flying away. Photo by Ashley
12. Skipping along the Sunset
Engagement sessions allow us to perfectly time our locations with sunset, and this location along the Schullykill River is usually graced with great sunsets. Kimmy and Kyle were willing to follow our instructions to skip along its banks, and were rewarded with this outcome. Photo by Ashley
11. Parking Lot Magic
Proof that incredible candid moments can happen anywhere, and the parking lot of Pen Ryn is no exception. Photo by Ben.
10. Hotel Hallway Magic
Stunning portraits can be made just about anywhere- even in the hallway at a hotel. Photo by Ben
9. Wedding Parade
If it rains on your wedding day, don’t fret because it can add lovely elements to your photos. We love the candid capture from Lauren and Justin’s post-ceremony trot. Photo by Ben
8. Fireside giggles
A roaring fire always adds a lovely element to any night portrait, as does a lot of laughter and some inside jokes. Photo by Ben
7. Caffeinated Bride
Wedding days are long days and a little coffee never hurts for a pick-me-up - so as long as you don’t spill on your dress! Photo by Ben
6. Love along the bike path
Busy city bike paths can make for great moments if anticipated correctly. Photo by Ben
5. Grandma’s pre-horah moment
While the Horah dance itself evokes great emotions, so does the moment before - especially when it seemed their grandmother wasn’t really excepting to be hoisted in the air. Photo by Ashley
4. A very Philly portrait
We are often at Philadelphia’s City Hall for portraits, which often means dodging crowds to get the perfect photo. But sometimes including the crowds can make for a pretty great image. Photo by Ashley
3. Sweet Caroline
A rendition of “Sweet Caroline”, anthem for the alumni of U Pitt, made for an incredible moment as the crowd surrounds Meghan and Sean. Photo by Ashley.
2. Emotional Mother
Erica’s mom was a very important part of the wedding planning process, and not only did the day go off flawlessly, but Judy was also able to take it all in. During the Bedeken, Erica’s grandfather shares words of wisdom and love, while her mother is overcome with emotion. Photo by Ben
A photo a few years in the making
Winterthur in Delaware is a stunning estate, and after Ben was there a few years back, he envisioned an image in his mind along this hillside. Of course, while Casey and Ian’s wedding was delayed a year due to COVID, we did finally make it there, and as it turns out they were willing to frolic alongside this spot. And so, with the sky rolling behind them, this image was made and it’s our top pick of 2021.
